The receptionists in the practice have all been trained to MPHC Medical Secretarial standard — Fetac Level 5 standard.
Their role is a very demanding role, being the first line of contact with all practice patients from the very ill to the routine surgery visits.
They also handle all telephone calls, enquiries, appointments, letters, recall notices for our illness programmes, insurance companies forms and claim forms, legal reports, rostering etc and to IPCS Standard.
Also they have to deal with the numerous contacts with the PCRS, GMS, Local HSE offices, Dept of Social Welfare, organise and scan all hospital reports, send and organise all laboratory specimens and assimilate subsequent reports in our computer system.

Practice Computerisation
The Red House Family Practice is a fully computerised practice, since 1994 and uses the most up to date computerised system which incorporates disease risk calculators to help us to further evaluate patient data and results in order to achieve best patient results or outcomes.
This is provided by Complete GP Ltd and hardware support is by John Finnegan of Computronics Solutions, Shortcastle, Mallow.
